1.50 a pop

May 27... great singapore sale!! prolly means even more people among the already formidable throngs clogging Orchard Road. nothin much that i realy realy need i guess, tho i definitely wudn't mind a 576, or a airmax lol.

went bowling today. added another skill to my already rather long list of credentials. the latest one being gutter-boy. i got a spectacular, stupendous and watever-word-u-can-think-of score of 67. i believe that is a orchid country club record for lowest score ever since the 1st guy rolled a 11 pound ball down the lane.

donations have gone a long way since i was in secondary school. we used to walk around holding tin cans with little round stickers they call flags, accepting watever small change passerbys can spare.

now, for a good cause, we can actually get something in return. in return for parting with 5 or ten dollars, u get to keep a toy gun, or a set of coasters, or a little booklet of coupons, among various assorted knickknacks. for the most part, whenever i get accosted by these individuals, who all proclaim they're doin their bit for charity, i've donated. not everytime, but mostly.

anyway, just the other day, this dainty dame (i rhyme!) skipped over and started with her pitch. yada yada, and i asked her for which cause i might be supporting this time round. i always do that. heh i mean, u gotta know wat ur supporting right? get your money's worth wat. she showed, or rather flashed this poster abt this particular kids' organisation. while fishing for my wallet, i wondered: of the 5 dollars, how much of a cut are the kids getting? i read the small print and was a tad stunned. peeved too.

a measly 30%. so that means for that 5 dollars, only a grand 150 cents go to the kids? so how abt the remainin $3.50? administrative charges like the telco did for NKF, which happened to be like 10% if i recall correctly? felt that the telco shudn't have charged for each call back then, but its a pittance when compared to the jawdropping figure. pestered the person a little, who could only offer a meek smile.

im not gonna donate to these fellas ever again.

im gonna spend my 5 dollars callin into the NKF donation hotline. when it's michelle chong's turn to repeat the number. 1900-112-6868 heh. i've never called in, all this while.
